Who We Are

Droll Designs is not just about exciting and colorful dishes. It is the result of a dream of an artist/teacher/lover/traveler/ mother/cook. The dream is twofold: Everyday life can amuse, excite, inspire and nourish; and Commerce can support and serve art. We are a group of people dedicated to serious play, and we design and manufacture a product to bring this dream to our customers.

Our products have unusual color harmonies and droll images. This fresh visual vocabulary speaks to our human experiences, the wry delight of life’s ironies, the enormity of its beauty and hopefulness. We paint this secret on the most humble of objects: a cup, a bowl, a plate. And although we live in an increasingly high tech and impersonal universe, we still need love letters to read, lullabies for our babies, and the sensitive line of the artist’s hand. They enrich our lives and strengthen us.

At Droll Designs, we are patient revolutionaries. For fourteen years we have been sending our message all over the world: Break out! Let Loose! Open! We are a little big company sitting in the lifeboat of the human imagination. Our work is an affirmation of joy and a pledge to excellence.
